Welcome to the Google Analytics Q&A! All the common questions that have been asked about GA in the dashboard are below. If you have further questions, feel free to comment on this article and our team will answer your question!
Q. What is the Page Performance Report?
The Page Performance Report is our new blended report that brings in both performance data from Publift and website data from Google Analytics (GA) to provide you with metrics that give a much better picture of how your website is performing. We believe that these reports will improve your visibility on how performance changes over time as you can now correlate improvements in revenue with the ebb and flow of pageviews and CPM, in one place. The Page Performance Report will become the go-to report for overall performance measurement.
Q. What are the new metrics added and why are they important?
Pageviews & Sessions are as they are in GA. Impressions & Revenue are as they are in Account and Network reports in the dashboard. Introducing Page RPM: (revenue/pageviews) * 1000, which is the amount of revenue accrued from 1000 pageviews. This metric is important as we’re able to monitor, in one value, how traffic has affected performance and at the same time how advertiser bid prices have affected the equation. Ads per Pageview: (impressions/pageview), represents the ratio between impressions and pageviews. When this number increases, it may indicate positive improvements in performance such as refreshes being implemented or an increase in dwell time. When there is a reduction in ads per pageview, it may suggest a drop in dwell time or an issue with an ad unit(s). Ads per pageview is a great barometer of how consistently your site is performing.
Q. How does data from GA get into the dashboard?
We use Google’s single-sign-on technology to leverage your Google account to link up an API between your GA account and the dashboard. This method is a simple click-a-box process to automatically create this link.
Q. Can I opt-out of displaying GA in the dashboard?
Yes. Please reach out to the customer service team and we’ll get the data removed.
Q. How and when is data pulled from GA into the dashboard?
There is a daily data pull and a historical data pull. The daily ingestion pulls at 4 am AEST and then is updated in the dashboard daily at 2 pm AEST. The time difference exists to avoid hitting any quota limits with the GA API. This is automatically triggered when the GA account is authenticated with the dashboard. The historical ingestion is by request, where we pull back up to three years of GA data. Reach out to the customer team if you wish to include this data in the dashboard. Our target will be to have GA data as far back as performance data exists in the dashboard.
Q. What is the time delay for GA to be pulled?
There is a 72-hour delay in data coming from GA due to the 72-hour window required for GA to provide concrete data. This means that GA data will not change after 72 hours.
Q. What timezone is GA data displayed in?
We currently display all data in UTC. If your account is in another timezone, we will store your data in the base time zone and then make a conversion to UTC. This will allow for timezone selection in the future (TBC).
Q. How is GA mapped against your account in the dashboard?
Via the API authentication, we match a ‘view’ in GA to your account in the dashboard. We require a one-to-one ratio between your GA view and your dashboard account, but we can manage a multi-view arrangement if need be (please contact the Account Management team for support if this is the case).
Q. Why is there already GA data in my dashboard?
No need to worry! We’ve gone ahead and mapped your GA account ahead of time. There is nothing more for you to do to get the reports running.
