The CMP (consent management platform) is a privacy regulation pop up that ensures we have consented to use your user’s data to serve them personalised ads. It is required by law for users coming to your website from Europe (GDPR) and California (CCPA) to ensure we are not misusing anyone’s data. It does partially cover the user interface as consent must be given before any ads are shown. We have built this to be as unobtrusive as possible within the guidelines but it is bigger than what some publishers have prior to Publift.
Through extensive research from our legal team, it was decided that this is the best we can offer. We have seen minimal bounce increases from users following websites that come on board with Publift. Users in these regions encounter these popups on any site they enter and so are used to them.
Once the user provides consent, the consent signal will be passed into the header bidding auction so that all demand partners can use the personalised data and serve personalised ads. This alone helps to massively increase the CPMs you would get in this region as you can serve personalised ads. We have found this to increase revenue from these regions by 50%. If a user decides not to accept, we will serve non-personalised ads so you still generate revenue from the user.
