Let's start off with the details we need prior to setting up a campaign in Ad manager.

You will need the following:

  • Start and end date
  • Impression goal (If applicable)
  • Advertiser name
  • Delivery settings (If applicable)
  • Customized targeting details (If applicable)
  • Creatives
  • Click-through & click tags

Here are the steps you'll need to take in order to set up a campaign

Step 1Start a new order

Step 2: You will only need to fill out the following sections with your order information

  • Order Name or Campaign Name
    • Naming convention - Publishername_Advertisername_Timeframe_UniqueIdentifiers
    • Example - PublisherX_Apple_July2020_ROS
  • Advertiser - If you find that you're unable to select an existing advertiser and would like to "Add a new company", please send an email the new advertiser details to campaigns@publift.com. The Publift team will need to manually add the new advertiser into Google Ad manager on your behalf.
  • Secondary Trafficker (Optional) - If you'd like to enable more members of your team to access this order or campaign, you'll need to add their email as a secondary trafficker. Please note that they will need to be added into our Google Ad manager as a user prior to this step. Otherwise they will not appear in the drop down.
    • Requesting for Google Ad Manager access: Please email campaigns@publift.com with the user details including their first name, last name and email address.

Step 3: Select Add line item

Step 4:  Select the correct Ad type. Ad type determines the type of creative you'll work with later.

  • Display Ads can include the following formats - JPG, PNG, GIF, HTML5, Third party, Custom creative templates, Standard creative templates
  • Video Ads can include the following formats - In-stream video, Out-stream video, Overlay, Redirect, Set-top box

Step 5: You will need to add your campaign information to the following sections

  • Expected creative sizes - Add the inventory sizes of the creatives you plan to upload. Once you define a size, the relevant creative will continue to serve impressions even after removing the size from the line item. The line item will stop serving impressions only when the creatives are deactivated.
Step 6: Enter optional "Additional Settings"
    • Add "Labels," which can be used to prevent two line items in the same category from being shown on the same page or prevent line items from being delivered in emergency situations.
    • Select Allow same advertiser exception if you want the line item to be able to be delivered to app or webpages at the same time as other line items from the same advertiser when a competitive exclusion label is active.
    • Enter "Comments" that might help with trafficking the line item.
    • Add "Custom fields" to help organize the line item in reports.
    • Add a "Viewability provider."
Step 7: Adjust "Delivery Settings"
    • Enter your Start and end time - Please note that our Google Ad manager operates on PDT time. This means that you may need to adjust your campaign times if yoou are in a different timezone.
    • Enter your impression goal in the "quantity" tab (If applicable)
    • Next to "Adjust delivery (optional)," set how quickly to deliver impressions and how to display creatives. Please see point 11 in this link for more details.
